Mitch Vance Report on the Price of Government in ND

This is a comprehensive measurement of all government revenues-state and local-is sometimes called 'The Price of Government' (POG), a broad term that measures the total costs of government services statewide. In other words, it tells us how much North Dakotans pay in total for their government.

Vermont Governor/ Campaign AD #7 Unversal health care a must

I know I talked about regulating a carbon tax on bif oil companines in the the state of vermont like mobil and exxon for example. i have thought that is not a good idea at this point and my main concern is that they jack up there prices and then there will be some big issues. so i am not going to make a carbon tax. instead i want the prices as low as possible so we need to put our need for renewable energy out there in this state. also I have mention that everyone young and old will have health care in the state of vermont. Unversal Health care is a must and if I am in office for one year giving the people of the whole state a voice I will go to congress in the next election I will run for president and make Unversal health care a must for all 50 states. lower taxes, i wll gain the support of FMR Howard Dean, Bill Clinton, Barrack Obama and John Kerry.. lets give back to the state of vermont what we lost.. and thats our voice.. peace and write me in Nov 4, 2008.. Huangdi Neijing黄帝内经:Theory医理篇2-2撩开气的盖头下

Guan Zhong (Chinese: 管仲, Wade-Giles: Kuan Chung) (born 725 BC, died in 645 BC) was a Chinese politician in the Spring and Autumn Period. His given name was Yíwú (夷吾). Zhong was his courtesy name. Recommended by Bao Shuya, he was appointed Prime Minister by Duke Huan of Qi in 685 BC. Guan Zhong modernized the state of Qi by starting multiple reforms. Politically, he centralized power and divided the state into different villages, each carrying out a specific trade. Instead of relying on the traditional aristocracy for manpower, he applied levies to the village units directly. He also developed a better method for choosing talent to be governors. Under Guan Zhong, Qi shifted administrative responsibilities from hereditary aristocrats to professional bureaucrats. Guan Zhong also introduced several important economic reforms. He created a uniform tax code. He also used state power to encourage the production of salt and iron; historians usually credit Guan Zhong for introducing state monopolies of salt and iron. During his term of office, the state of Qi became much stronger and Duke Huan of Qi gained hegemony among the states. He is listed as the author of the Guanzi encyclopedia, actually a much later (of the late "Warring States" period) compilation of works from the scholars of the Jixia Academy. The Guanzi (Chinese: 管子; pinyin: Guǎnzi; Wade-Giles: Kuan-tzu; literally "[Writings of] Master Guan") is an encyclopedic compilation of Chinese philosolphical materials named after the 7th century BCE philosopher Guan Zhong, Prime Minister to Duke Huan of Qi. The Han Dynasty scholar Liu Xiang edited the received Guanzi text circa 26 BCE, largely from sources associated with the 4th century BCE "Jixia Academy" (稷下, Chi-hsia) in the Qi capital of Linzi. Although most Guanzi chapters philosophically characterize Legalism, other sections blend doctrines from Confucianism and Daoism. For example, the Neiye (內業 "Inner Enterprise/Training") chapter has some the oldest recorded descriptions of Daoist meditation techniques. When you enlarge your mind and let go of it, When you relax your [qi 氣] vital breath and expand it, When your body is calm and unmoving: And you can maintain the One and discard the myriad disturbances. You will see profit and not be enticed by it, You will see harm and not be frightened by it. Relaxed and unwound, yet acutely sensitive, In solitude you delight in your own person. This is called "revolving the vital breath": Your thoughts and deeds seem heavenly. (24, tr. Roth 1999:92) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guanzi_(text)

20090904 AK Gov. Sarah Palin RNC Bio video

Biographical video for Alaska Governor Sarah Palin prepared for the September 1-4, 2008 Republican National Convention at Minneapolis St. Paul Minnesota Alaska Governor web site bio: http://www.gov.state.ak.us/bio.html Retrieved September 4, 2008 "About the Governor "Governor Sarah Palin made history on Dec. 4, 2006, when she took office. As the 11th governor of Alaska, she is the first woman to hold the office. "Since taking office, her top priorities have been resource development, education and workforce development, public health and safety, and transportation and infrastructure development. "Under her leadership, Alaska invested $5 billion in state savings, overhauled education funding, and implemented the Senior Benefits Program that provides support for low-income older Alaskans. "She created Alaska's Petroleum Systems Integrity Office to provide oversight and maintenance of oil and gas equipment, facilities and infrastructure, and the Climate Change Subcabinet to prepare a climate change strategy for Alaska. "During her first legislative session, Governor Palin's administration passed two major pieces of legislation -- an overhaul of the state's ethics laws and a competitive process to construct a gas pipeline. "Governor Palin is chair of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission, a multi-state government agency that promotes the conservation and efficient recovery of domestic oil and natural gas resources while protecting health, safety and the environment. "She was recently named chair of the National Governors Association (NGA) Natural Resources Committee, which is charged with pursuing legislation to ensure state needs are considered as federal policy is formulated in the areas of agriculture, energy, environmental protection and natural resource management. Prior to being named to this position, she served as co-chair of this committee. "Prior to her election as governor, Palin served two terms on the Wasilla City Council and two terms as the mayor/manager of Wasilla. During her tenure, she reduced property tax levels while increasing services and made Wasilla a business friendly environment, drawing in new industry. "She has served as chair of the Alaska Conservation Commission, which regulates Alaska's most valuable non-renewable resources: oil and gas. She was elected by her peers to serve as president of the Alaska Conference of Mayors. In this role, she worked with local, state and federal officials to promote solutions to the needs of Alaska's communities. "Sarah Heath Palin arrived in Alaska with her family in 1964, when her parents came to teach school in Skagway. She received a bachelor of science degree in communications-journalism from the University of Idaho in 1987. Palin, who graduated from Wasilla High School in 1982, has lived in Skagway, Eagle River and Wasilla. "She is married to Todd Palin, who is a lifelong Alaskan, a production operator on the North Slope and a four-time champion of the Iron Dog, the world's longest snowmachine race. "Todd and Sarah fish in Bristol Bay with their children -- Track, Bristol, Willow, Piper and Trig. Through Todd's Yup'ik grandmother, Alaska's Native heritage plays an important role in their family. Track enlisted in the U.S. Army on Sept. 11, 2007. "Prior to taking office, Palin served on numerous boards and commissions throughout the state. She was active in her family's pursuits -- including serving as a sports team mom and school volunteer. She also runs marathons. "Palin is a lifetime member of the NRA and enjoys hunting, fishing, Alaska history, and all that Alaska's great outdoors has to offer. "Todd Palin and Scott Davis, team 22, cross the finish line in Fairbanks on Feb. 17, 2007 to win the 2,000-mile Tesoro Iron Dog. Palin has won the world's longest snowmachine race four times."

Obama; "A Defining Moment...A Different Future"

Obama is 100% right when he says that this election is and will be a defining moment for America. We will be deciding whether we will creep toward, and fall off the edge to the final demise of our great country, or whether we will sprint toward it full steam ahead and reach it within one generation. I do believe that he sees a different future. He sees a future of big government, and increased taxes; a future where the government is the dominant force in the lives of the people. Even if a person believes in these policies, they are not achievable without destroying the economic power of this country, and in so doing, destroying the relative rich lifestyle that the vast majority of Americans enjoy. Obama arrives in Terre Haute for campaign stop Associated Press Posted: September 6, 2008 TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama has arrived in Terre Haute for his first campaign event in Indiana since he accepted the Democratic nomination. A large crowd has gathered at the Wabash Valley Fairgrounds to see the Illinois senator, who got a rousing welcome from supporters who packed the fairground's 4-H Arena. Obama told the crowd that the nation's economic woes have left many Americans anxious, hurting and worried about their family's future. He said Republican presidential nominee John McCain would simply continue President Bush's economic policies — policies that he said have failed the nation. Obama was introduced by U.S. Sen. Evan Bayh of Indiana. He praised Obama for inspiring young people and many others to become politically active. Indiana among the battlegrounds Both candidates have targeted 11 states with advertising this week. They are Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Missouri, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin. John McCain and the Republican National Committee also are up with an ad in Minnesota. Barack Obama, however, has expanded the field for now, placing ads in Indiana, Michigan, Montana, and North Dakota. Timing is also crucial. Five battlegrounds — North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Missouri and Michigan — begin distributing absentee ballots between Sept. 19 and Sept. 23. McCain must ensure a state like Montana, which voted for George W. Bush 59-39 percent over John Kerry in 2004 doesn't flip. But the state has two Democratic senators and a Democratic governor. He must shore up North Dakota and hold on to other states Bush won such as Nevada and Colorado, where there's been a growth in the population of Democratic-leaning Hispanic voters. "The secret of the next 30 days is to get these traditional Republican states back in our column," said Reed. It won't be easy. Obama has the financial resources to keep those states competitive, forcing McCain to divert money he will desperately need in tossup states. Democratic vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin will be McCain's ambassador to vulnerable Republican "red" states. She'll cross paths with Republican vice presidential candidate Joe Biden in small cities and rural hamlets in Pennsylvania and Ohio in competition for working class white men and women. McCain would be free to promote himself as a maverick and independent in states such as New Hampshire and in the suburbs and ex-urbs where independent and undecided voters might live.
